Product FAQ
Every single product that leaves the STEELWOOD design workshop starts as an historic piece of wood.
Whether it’s an old oak bookshelf or reclaimed fir plank, each piece of wood that we sustainably source is inspected and cleaned upon arrival. Instead of trying to find ways to hid imperfections, our team seeks them out, knowing that each scar and knot in the wood is another touch of beauty that will grace the final product. After inspection and sorting, raw wood pieces are then hand-selected by our artists based on the product being crafted that day. From there, the wood is lovingly cut, sculpted, sanded, and stained by hand over many days of meticulous labour. The result? A beautiful piece of art ready for a new chapter in a new home.
